With another 6-day work schedule, it's kind of difficult, but I'm trying to fit in more time for the web stuff. (sounds like anyone of my blogs in the past 2 years, huh?) Lately I've had more time with AdaptCMS 2.0 and have been making good progress, but still have a ways to go.

Zune HD

To go with something more fun, I realized a few minutes ago that I never posted my impressions of my zune HD and if there are people considering getting it - it's well worth the money.

To get the bad stuff out of the way - the Internet is mediocre (better than initial release but not fast, no flash, etc.), the amount of apps is very small, a screen protector is a must IMO and that's pretty much it.

Those are even minor or excusable negatives, but the positives far outweigh those. First off it's just a great looking device. The 16 GB one I got is black, thin and a great looking design.

The praise of the OLED screen are warranted as well as the navigation and appearance itself. For even someone that had literally never even used an IPod Touch or anything of the sort, I was easily able to make my way around everything instantly.

One of the negatives was Apps, also a positive. Some of the apps up now are pretty good quality - such as Audiosurf, PGR, Texas Hold' Em and a nifty Twitter app. The graphical powerhouse that the Zune secretly is, shines brightly with PGR as you could definitely argue that it has more capability then a PSP in that regard. Which is pretty incredible since the PSP is a handheld gaming system, the Zune mainly a MP3 player.

There's a lot to talk about the zune but I'll browse through a few. Pinning items is nifty and quite useful (pin a picture or even a website), especially if you visit the same sites or the same songs. The HD Radio is an underrated feature - the ability to not only hear a crisp sound quality from a radio channel, but to also see the song name/band when a song is playing - just awesome.

And to not skip over the two most useful for me - videos and music of course. With further video support upcoming and a great screen to boot - it's a very good feature. Music is so easy to manage with sorting by Artist, Album, Playlists and so on. Coupled with an awesome software on the PC - Zune also excels on that front, letting you easily sync videos, pictures, music and the like with your zune as well as download podcasts and browse the marketplace.

Conclusion

Overall it's not difficult at all to recommend the Zune HD. The iTouch definitely has some advantages, some significant (see: Internet, Apps), but it also depends on your usage. For me it was mainly a media player (video/music), but a basic ineternet feature and radio which the Zune fulfills. Can't wait for the spring update!
