Update - February 14th

Category: Updates

Figured I'd post on the eve of yet another snow storm hitting Cincinnati. We already have 3-6 inches (just a guess) on the ground now and are expecting 3-5 additional inches by Monday evening and possibly up to 8 inches by Tuesday. As well it looks like there will be small snow showers on Tuesday, Wednesday and possibly another snow storm on Saturday.

And yet I'm one of the few actually enjoying this. I love the snow and the cold (hate summer, dont like late spring) so this type of weather is something I wish I could experience year-long. Unfortunately, however, it is mid-February so the snow and the cold won't last much longer at all so I'll just be enjoying it while I can.

AdaptCMS 2.0

After some finished features done a few weeks ago, progress has slowed to a halt in the past few days or so. Media has become the first big feature to essentially be finished - frontend and backend. (with video support, but more bug testing necessary)

Stats also received some big changes, although progress halted because chart support was being found to be quite difficult to integrate in. (right now I'm seriously considering not putting charts in, it is after all the information that's important)

The start of the "frontend acp bar" was done, you simply edit a template and can have anything you want in it. (so all that needs to be done is a default template with options in it)

Next up will be finishing stats, additional work on the Share feature and possibly starting on the "Social" features of Adapt 2.0

Until next time.

First just want to say congrats to Ohio State! Even though UC was blown out, I was happy to finally see OSU win a bowl game.

Last blog I was talking about Christmas and what to buy with my money and after some research I've gone with the Zune HD. Along with 2-day shipping and a gel skin it was $213 at amazon thanks to a sale, the Zune HD is normally $219 just by itself - so not bad. {#emotions_dlg.smiley-cool}

Can't wait to get it, should be Tuesday as long as UPS is right - in the meantime I'll look up any apps or whatever I should get. I'll post a review once I get it.

In AdaptCMS news more and more progress has been made. (albeit slow) Most of the core admin is done, next I'll be getting some of the basics in the frontend done along with working on some of the share features. From there I'll start skinning the admin cp into templates along with the more advanced features.

Just posting a small update here. Business as usual - work, TV and some web work.

Work

Work's been going fine - a new employee was hired recently and with my promotion, I got my raise. (although my first check @ 8.50 was hurt badly by taxes) But no complaints.

Television

Unfortunately my favorite show on TV, Sons of Anarchy, had it's eason finale with something like 9 months until the next season. {#emotions_dlg.smiley-cry} But what a show, I can't wait already for Season 3!

At least before then I'll have a lot of shows in the meantime - 24 (maybe the last season?), Lost Season 6 (last one), Burn Notice, etc.

Web Work

Since the last update there's been a good amount of progress - some basic modules are done such as - Users, Groups, Levels, Content, Sections, Fields. Now it may sound like the script is getting close to completion but it isn't. Just those modules are only partially done - basically functioning and with the new SQL structure but new features aren't implemented yet, I want to get the whole basic cp done and then go from there.

I'm hoping to soon have the basic admin modules done - Comments, Files/Media, Pages, Polls, Settings, Skins. That doesn't include things like the support area which will be worked on in conjunction with improving the AdaptCMS v1 code and implementing new features. The frontend itself won't even be started for a little while.

Anyway that about wraps it up. I will have a demo of 2.0 up sometime this week.

Well after a few weeks of waiting my training day has come and I passed so I'm now officially a Shift Leader at UDF. The jump from Clerk to Shift Leader is pretty small - responsibilities are pretty much the same and I'll be the same on the food chain, just one person underneath me.

The nice thing, other than title and accomplishment is of course the raise - something like 50 cents/hour which will be great. It's nothing huge, but just something nice to get when you've never worked anywhere else for more than 6 months - let alone a promotion.

In other news I've been working on AdaptCMS, getting some progress while helping the new owner of OneCMS to release that script as well. A release for OneCMS 2.6 could be seen in the coming weeks - mostly a lot of bug fixes and file changes, but also some new features.

I'm hoping to get some basics of the AdaptCMS 2.0 backend somewhat finished by next week - since I want to make so many changes, but keep a lot of the basics I'll be nearly re-creating the admin panel and then changing it afterwards. (for possible features like editing the way the admin looks and such) Once the basic admin cp is done, work will likely start on the Insane Visions features as well as early frontend work before the new design is bought.

I'll have some early pics up this weekend.

Just a post to update on some things. First, my promotion is next Wednesday - I figure I'll be told the details on Monday, can't wait!

AdaptCMS 2.0 progress although slow, has started and has made some progress has been made - mostly SQL and some of the basic files are being done. (admin/frontend core with the start of features starting as early as tonight) I hope to have some basics and maybe a feature or two done by the end of the week. (like settings, adding content, stuff like that)

Work will also finally begin on AdaptBB 1.1 fairly soon, probably once a decent amount is done on AdaptCMS. I'll try and do some brainstorming in the meantime.

Anyways that's about it.

Category: Updates

Just a few updates to post here. First off I've been promoted at work, it'll take in effect the 18th of next week once I complete the training. Very few added responsibilities and a 50 cent/hour raise, so not bad.

In web news, OneCMS has been sold. I'll stay in a limited capacity with the script - mostly for support after the release of 2.6 and time to time, support for the new owner. We also have a deal in place with link backs. (we update each of our sites with news from the other scripts)

The official announcement regarding onecms will be made in the coming days on the Insane Visions website.

As for AdaptCMS, a blog will be posted sometime this next week about more of the new features coming to 2.0. Some work has been done on the script, I'm hoping some very early pics can be taken in the next few weeks.

That's all for now.

Mini Update - October 6th

Category: Updates

Figured I'd update, one of my 2 days of this week. Thanks to another newegg sale I picked up a 1 TB HD for only $80 shipped. I also got a wireless network adapter and a new router - however I'm getting refunded for the router, a D-Link DIR-625, which had a lot of problems with it. I'm going to end up paying a bit more for a higher quality router.

In other news OneCMS will be under new management shortly. I was contacted and agreed to sell the script, the sale is under way now. A 2.6 version will be coming out in the coming months. As for AdaptCMS 2.0, I'm expecting a release sometime at the end of the year as long as some significant progress can be made in the coming weeks.

As for my laptop, I'm still trying to figure out what to do with it. Right now it's a backup/mom uses it. But I'd like to have some great use for it, just difficult with decent performance and a very small HD. (80 GB)

Anyways that's about it. Just working, TV, the usual.

Mini Update - September 24th
Sep 24, 2009 - 8:27 pm
Category: Updates

Fall TV season has already started and it's back with so many great shows. On Monday's the Big Bang Theory, How I met your mother and a fantastic season premiere of House. Tuesday with Sons of Anarchy, NCIS and new - NCIS: Los Angeles. Wednesday back with Criminal Minds and Thursday with The Office, Bones, Community and a series premiere of FlashForward.

That enormous list doesn't include several cable shows such as It's always sunny or a few shows upcoming (Stargate Universe, LOST). In short, a LOT of Television.

Besides watching a TV, I've been working a lot. 6 days this week, I have Saturday off and just worked my earliest shift yet - a 7-4. (Audit) I'll probably be back to 5 days next week though, with everyone at work having there vacation the past month.

All this time with my PC and I'm still gaming - I've had a lot of games to catch up with. I'm hoping to finally get AdaptCMS back to active status and get work done on 2.0 finally. I have all the tools needed, maybe Saturday can be the day to jumpkick things back into motion.

That's about it.

A day off work
Aug 11, 2009 - 3:06 pm
Category: Updates

After working 6 days two weeks ago and 7 days this past week, I finally got a day off. (two in fact - Monday and Tuesday) I was called in Thursday/Friday night, though the good thing was these two paychecks will be my biggest yet.

By sheer coincidence I was starting to build my PC online - picking parts, getting advice. Now with those two paychecks I'm looking at being able to possibly buy the parts after this next paycheck.

It won't be a beastly machine (no more than $650, right now at $635 with shipping), but it'll be a nice desktop that I plan on having for quite a while and hopefully won't need to upgrade for at least a year, maybe two.

Here's the list so far, at this point I think it's all there excluding any sales before the time of ordering. (just missed out on a $15 sale)

Mini Update - July 24

Category: Updates

Just a real small update here, more-so because of lack of news rather than free time. I've just been working at UDF mostly - also been having a lot of fun with "Road to Glory" in NCAA 10.

Lastly I've been brainstorming for my CMS, slowly working on tidbits for testing purposes - I hope to get a design started by someone soon. In the meantime I'll work on some basic structure ideas and possibly start on the SQL as well as preliminary work on some of the "connect" features.

Stay tuned to InsaneVisions.com this weekend, I'll very likely be posting a blog about AdaptCMS 2.0 and some of the ideas in work for it.

Back from mini-vacation

Category: Updates

Actually I've been back since Sunday, but haven't had the time to post until now. On Friday I went up to Geneva on the Lake. (Geneva, Ohio - near Cleveland) for my cousin's wedding and got home around 3-3:30ish on Sunday. At 6 that night I worked 6pm-1am and then yesterday (Monday) a family friend took my mom and me on errands. After that I went to work and today I talked to an old friend and picked up NCAA. A busy past few days.

Talking about NCAA, I'll have some impressions up shortly. I'm hoping for a good game as I skipped last years and wasn't super impressed with 08. (good, but not great) But with plenty of Birthday money and wanting a game to play, I figured I'd give NCAA a shot after seeing some good initial impressions.

In other news, with the launch of this site I'm continuing to almost re-start my web presence. There are plans in place to attempt to sell (or simply let the domain expire) of more than half my websites. This includes 24 Quotes (will be sold), Bengals Chatter (likely), Dynasty Wizard (unfortunately....likely) and GTA IV Universe. (if I can't sell, will let expire)

With those gone, that just leaves this website, AdaptCMS.com, AdaptBB.com, Adapt Software and Insane Visions. The reason for this gutting is either lack of interest (like GTA IV Universe) or no time for it. (like DW) The good news is that I can proceed with re-launching all the remaining sites. This is no coincidence of the work (currently brainstorming) for AdaptCMS 2.0, as the CMS will my top overall project.

Anyways, stay tuned for news on that and some impressions on NCAA 10.

Just a very simple post, I turned 21 yesterday. (the 8th) I didn't do anything too much, just ate out and drank my first beer. (bud light - meh) Nothing too fancy, but I had a good time.

I'm not a drinker so it's not a big deal, but still the last restriction removed. I wouldn't mind trying a few types of alcohol, see if there's anything I like.

In other news, I'll probably be posting an article or two today - before I go on my "mini-vacation". (family wedding)

CharliePage88.com Launched!
Jun 27, 2009 - 4:52 pm
Category: Updates

Welcome to CharliePage88.com!

For those that don't know, this is essentially a re-launch of my previous blog - charliepage.net. Sporting a new look and feel, as well as new features, charliepage88.com updates the old blog in a big way.

As well as the new look, you will see a lot more activity and a wider range of topics, from technology and TV to current events. Other than updates on web work and general life stuff, most articles will likely be TV or current events related.

All that said, I hope you enjoy the site. Feel free to leave a comment on any feedback you have, as well, feel free to also subscribe to keep up to date on the blog. Thank you!

- Charlie Page

New site coming!
May 14, 2009 - 4:19 pm
Category: Updates

Although I recently renewed charliepage.net, this site will be moving quite soon! In the works right now is a new design and a plan to re-launch my blog at charliepage88.com.

Other than a better look, running on a newer version of AdaptCMS and more frequent updates - it will likely also integrate in a way with some of my other sites and you could see things like an actual portfolio, twitter/facebook and more.

Actual features wise the site will remain the same - a blog. It will also be the first site of the big re-launch that I've been planning. I'm not sure when the new site will launch, but the design should be finished by the weekend so the new site could be up in a few weeks.

Stay tuned!

Update - 4/20
Apr 20, 2009 - 12:38 am
Category: Updates

Nothing too much to talk about in this blog. I've done nearly nothing on any of my web stuff, mostly because I've been working over 40 hour weeks at UDF. Though I have all day shifts this week, so I'm hoping to get the ball rolling and at least get a little done.

However time will be limited, but if I could just get a bit of work on AdaptCMS and/or AdaptBB, it'd be good just to get some activity. I've been wanting to get both scripts versions to release for some time now. (AdaptBB 1.0, AdaptCMS 1.5 Beta)

I may also be able to at least get the motions started on the big web re-launch earlyish May, by then I should have a little money (bills, rent, taxes ;) ) and could get a designer at least for the blog.

Anyways, that's about it for now. For the past few weeks I've basically been going to work, watching TV, a little video games and that's all - so some web work would help liven things up. :p Stay tuned.

The Big Re-Launch
Apr 03, 2009 - 12:02 am
Category: Updates

Kept under wraps for quite a while, but it looks like my multiple site re-launching will finally come to reality in the near future. Saving up money, paying off bills and such with what I've made at UDF so far and I'm looking too, shortly, start this big re-launch.

This will finally see the nail in a few coffins of websites I have, major new versions of websites as well as launching of a few new ones. Compared to the past, this time I'll be bringing not just the usual but significant (compared to before) resources. I've messed up a few site launches because of going cheap, not getting enough staff - to name a few reasons.

The ideas are still being fleshed out, but so far a re-launch of this blog, a new major version of Insane Visions, a new News website are among of a few. For the existing sites this means a new design, likely new features altogether and just altogether new looks.

The beginning of this could be soon after the release of AdaptCMS 1.5, which (as long as I work less than 5 days) should have it's beta and AdaptBB 1.0 out next week. A few of the new websites or website re-launches could see itself out around the time of AdaptCMS 2.0. (taking advantage of the new features)

More details will be revealed when known.

Internet Back
Mar 18, 2009 - 11:59 pm
Category: Updates

While the last post I made here was about a new job, anyone wondering why it's been a month since I've done anything here would assume it's my new job, but infact it's not.

On numerous occassions I've had time to do web work and post on my blog, but I just got back the internet yesterday. It was a long 3 weeks or so and it sucked not having anything to do except watch TV after a long day at work, but luckily I have it back.

Even though I've been gone, I think maybe as soon as this upcoming weekend I may release AdaptBB 1.0 and AdaptCMS 1.5 Beta could see it's release in the next few weeks. I always hate gaps without any work done, especially when I couldn't do anything about it.

Nonetheless I hope to get AdaptBB 1.0 out very soon and the AdaptCMS Beta sometime this month. I've also had a little luck selling my sites, but still have a few left.

Anyways, that's all for now. I'll probably make a post in a few days.

New Job
Feb 17, 2009 - 3:36 pm
Category: Updates

After applying at quite a few places, I was finally able to get a job somewhere - UDF. (United Dairy Farmers for those not familiar) Nothing fancy, store clerk at $7.50/hr but it's money. I'm working this week day shifts, but I'm guessing after this week I'll mostly be nights.

Luckily the time between will give me a chance to try and sell some of my sites. Especially if I am scheduled a lot of hours, I want to try and actually re-organize so I can flesh those sites out and move on to any new projects and to re-launch/re-focus the ones I'm keeping.

Kind of a catch twenty-two when it comes to working and my web work. Putting aside the fact that financially I had to, of course working may cause me to work on web stuff less. (although I could also focus attention more on it) But on the otherhand while I've been scrapping by, having to rely solely on my programming skills and not doing any new site versions (visually) for 1-2 years, with a job I will have a little bit that I'll have to save up and use for designs and such.

In the end, I'm looking forward to working at UDF. (well actually I started monday) Working part time I will have plenty of time to sell some sites, make some money from those and work, as well get the web stuff down enough so I'm not too worried about it when I get into college.

Oh and for those interested, I finally released the AdaptBB 1.0 Beta. After a few weeks of testing and a few things to do (another cms integration or two, maybe phpbb converter) it will release after many delays and it'll be a relief. In other web news I'm starting to brainstorm for AdaptCMS 1.5. The release is a long ways off, but with AdaptBB 1.0 being essentially finished I wouldn't mind getting a nice early start on AdaptCMS 1.5, maybe release earlier than expected, have a long beta and get plenty of time for the big one - AdaptCMS 2.0. (which I am here and there, slowly, brainstorming for)

Anyways I think that about covers it. Getting a job at UDF was a big relief as well, selling a few of my sites will be so I can minimize the amount I have and as I said, launch seriously any new ones and re-organize/re-focus/re-launch the ones I keep. While I do this stuff for fun, I also need to do more than have a few sites, post every few weeks and do nothing more, more like a business is what some will be going towards.

Until next time.

AdaptBB doing well
Feb 02, 2009 - 2:13 am
Category: Updates

Similair to the early development of AdaptCMS, AdaptBB has been a long time coming. While AdaptCMS was delayed less than a year, it's been 2 1/2 years since AdaptBB.com was first registered. The initial plan of AdaptCMS and AdaptBB (first releases) ended up being impossible to do, but all that's behind.

With the release of AdaptCMS 1.4, there's the usual time period where I try and do nothing AdaptCMS-related, which has given me a LOT of time to work on AdaptBB. Excluding the numerous bugs fixed already, significant progress has been made such as the attachments feature, a pretty nice Polls feature (similar to AdaptCMS, but upgraded quite a bit) and quite a bit more.

Not as exciting but a nifty "View IP" function (click on an IP if your an admin/mod and you are taken to a page with info on the IP and an easy link to ban it), Report a Post makes a return from the early AdaptBB-build, expanded RSS (by forum, by topic and by user), Members List and possibly the biggest thing done has been the work on CMS Integration.

What's been so exciting about it is the fact that there is no coding internally. Meaning if you use AdaptCMS, you just load the Plugin, enter your CMS prefix and if say a new version of AdaptBB releases, no worries about downloading specific files. All integration is done with the plugin file. Of course there is minimal coding on other pages to help complete the integration, but it's nothing cms specific and although I expect it to change slightly, it will still be a great system. Of course a great integration system means the likelihood of more compatible-CMS's.

As of right now there really isn't too much left until the pre-beta. This will be thorough testing before a beta is possible. For a normal version this wouldn't be necessary, but being the very first official version, it's a good thing. Once the beta releases I will likely port at least a few, if not more, of my site's forums over to it. While the old AdaptBB is decently stable, I'd guess in the present stage the new AdaptBB is probably more stable. (more raised expectations/precautions than dissing the old one)

In the meantime you can always see the Development website, it's literally where I test everything AdaptBB-related. Hopefully by the time I blog here next the beta will be ready! Until next time.
